Abstract

The Role of Language in the Survival of a Culture
This paper examines the role of language in the survival of a culture. Scholars believe that a language is the identity of an individual, a society, or a country. It contains in itself emotions, thought and values. In other words, a language is the vehicle of a culture. As we know the language, we know the culture. The growth of a culture largely depends on the development of its language. If we separate a language from its culture, the latter becomes obscure. It so happens because language is a tool that develops in human beings the ability to understand and explore a culture. Therefore, the existence of any culture cannot be imagined without language.
